Do You Know What’s In Your Food?

I just finished watching the documentary Food, Inc. all I can say is, “WOW!” My eyes were opened to a whole level deeper of the story behind this country’s food. Instead of giving a detailed review on it, I will say that it is a must-see for those who want their eyes opened and who are ready to change their way of life. Check out this website: GMO Woes.

What’s wrong with the picture below? Do you know what’s in your food? Do you know where it comes from?

Recipe Steal: Wild Blueberry and Coconut Smoothie

Wild Blueberry & Coconut Smoothie http://www.jillianhairris.com

Jillian Harris is a former Bachelorette off of ABC’s show and she has her own website where she talks about design, food and fashion along with her life. She loves to cook, which I am still not in the habit of doing, so I often go onto her website to see the good food she has made. I am recently a huge smoothie fan. I don’t eat breakfast because I am usually rushing in the mornings. A smoothie is a great way for me to get my nutrients and I can drink it while I am heading out and driving. Well this smoothie that she posted about caught my eye and I wanted to make sure I shared it with you all!

Check out the ingredients on her website: Smoothie Recipe

Summer White

White Outfit

I recently went to a birthday party and had no idea what to wear. I wanted to look cute but did not want to upstage the birthday girl. I figured she’d be wearing a cute summer dress so I went to find some white pants so I could wear a white outfit (no I don’t have that necessary item in my closet). Well I went to my favorite place, Encore Upscale Resale, because they were having a $1.00 sale on all regular clothes. (heaven!) I found some white shorts instead and what you see to the left is what I came up with.

White is so clean and fresh for the summer. You can match any color with it from bold and spicy to soft and conservative. Because these shorts were making such a statement with being so short, I covered up the top half of my body with a nice summer blazer. I was wearing my new platform shoes which I love! A friend had to convince me to be bold enough to wear them with this outfit. I am glad she did because they added the spice to the outfit. There’s a clothes concept that a friend told me today: “If you expose one part of you body, cover the rest up.” I really like that. It helps you to remain classy if that is what you are aiming for.

In the mean time, I am back on my health goals. I just need to add in exercising and I will be ready to go. I’ve been cheating on my sugar since my birthday is this month. I am not going to hard because I don’t want to relive that crash I experienced the first time I cut sugar out of my diet. I started back watching what I eat with some sushi yesterday. Is sushi even considered healthy? 🙂

Day 15

I definitely don’t want to let down my readers by not continuing to post so I will keep things going. This is the outfit that I wore yesterday to class. Everything was from Encore except some of the jewelry.

Day 15 #30for30

This isn’t my favorite photo at all but it just had to do. I wore a jacket over it in class to remain conservative for class, but it definitely wasn’t on all day. Truthfully I was mostly home all day just taking some personal time and working from home. I am wearing my hair natural for a moment. I have to get back in the groove and the mood for it. I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. Actually, I don’t just feel like it, I know I do. I love it and then while doing it I want to shave it off sometimes. I want it to grow really long and thick, but it is taking awhile (naturally) and I am getting tired of being patient. My hair influences my fashion as well. I wonder what outfits I’ll pull out in this stage.

One thing that I may start documenting is working out. I feel the laziness in my muscles. I am not doing enough. I want to train these muscles into shape while I still can so when I get older I will just stay maintaining. Which starts with now some sit ups, push ups and lunges before bed. 🙂

Day 12 – Gladiator Shoes

This post is days late as my Day 12 was on Saturday and it is now Monday. Anyways, here is the outfit I wore. It was nice and sunny. I had a graduation party and also work (which is very casual), so this worked perfect for me!

Day 12 Outfit

I loved this outfit! The shoes made it fun for me. I call them my Gladiator Shoes. Yes, I am also a Gladiator in shoes! #ScandalShoutout One thing I love about this challenge, is when I feel great in an outfit, I feel great all day. Feeling and looking good really is a mood booster! Speaking of feeling good, this whole fast from sugar is really going well! I am seeing a few results. I am not trying to lose weight but the little problem areas, like my overly bloated stomach, are starting to disappear. I will admit, I missed it once at the graduation party I was at on Saturday. I had some of the punch and wasn’t even thinking of what was in it. I gave myself a pass though. I’ve been good for weeks now so 1 cup of punch was not bad. I had some coffee today without the sugar and it did not feel good! It is the same size that I used to have but now the caffeine makes my heart beat too fast and made me feel like I wasn’t going to be able to keep it down. I think I will just continue to stay away from coffee. I know there are natural energy boosters like green smoothies and such.

I am not going to include  yesterday’s (Sunday’s) outfit as my Day 13 because I was in uniform again. No choice there, so I am not including it :-).

Time To Start Cooking

I haven’t cooked a meal in a long time. I know, very sad. I don’t have any good excuses either. Sometimes I’m just tired, but other times I just don’t feel like cooking. Well, this will not do especially since I expect to eat. I’m always careful to prioritize working on my business, serving in my Church, or doing other work; but not eating.  I’ve never been a big eater and I only eat when I’m hungry but my habits will need to change soon because I plan to start working out with a great trainer doing a new technique with True F/X Health & Fitness. The bear that emerges when I am consistently working out will force me to cook more.

I decided to find ways to make cooking fun by looking for creative and tasty recipes that I will have fun experimenting on. Something new and different will give me something to look forward to when I prepare meals. At least I am praying it will! I found a few recipes on the Whole Foods website that made my mouth water at first glance. This is from their section called, “Savory Roasted Recipes for Autumn”. I am posting just 1 picture out of the 7. (You can find this picture and recipe here >> http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/3125)

Spice-Crusted Roast Salmon with Ginger Beets

The business minded woman is turning into a chef. As soon as I make this dish I will post pictures. I’m really excited, and hungry . . .
